Description
Got him from the local kennel in 2012 and he had a secret. Within a year he had his first seizure and it was frightening. I looked up the causes and the only thing that stood out in my mind was that he was hit - rather hard - in the head. His seizures last a few minutes to 20 minutes but they are very infrequent. Still don't know the reason why they happen but instead of running from me, he comes to me when they start. In the 5 years we've had him he's had maybe 5 or more seizures... and he's a good boy.
The latest news: 10-08-2020 he had a stroke. Took him to the vet and were told that things could get better - just keep an eye on him. So far - he's still with us (but he did have a second one - my fingers will remain crossed).!

Okay. I just read up on Basenji and Shiba.. although similar in many ways I have a purebred Shiba which you can tell by any of the photographs on line. He has a very thick double coat and I believe that his seizures are a "gift" from his former owner. He has seizures MAYBE once a year, if that. I believe, by the way he acts - he was either kicked in the head or hit with an object. It's NOT a disease it's a symptom of something that happened to him. And that "yodel" can also be construed as a "scream".. in either case, I know what I have living with me. Thanks for your opinion.

Like your work, Barbara :} This little fella is a Basenji mix. Unfortunately, Basenji are known for their propensity of getting seizures. There is plenty on the internet on the subject. Best of luck with this adorable guy!
