The Chinese Crested (no. 80 on the AKC list) is considered a small breed, weighing on average 10–13 lb (4.5–5.9 kg). The height is 11 to 13 inches (27-33 cm). The breed is fine-boned, with almond-shaped eyes and large, erect ears. There is no color standard for the breed.
At first look, the hairless and powderpuff varieties of Chinese Crested Dogs appear to be two different breeds, but hairlessness is an incomplete dominant trait within a single breed. The Hairless has soft, humanlike skin, as well as tufts of hair on its paws ("socks") and tail ("plume") and long, flowing hair on its head ("crest"). 08-27-23 Up at around 1 AM in terrible pain in my left leg. Waited all night till around 5 AM when I told my husband that I could not walk. He took me to the Emergency room of our local hospital. And we waited. Around 11 AM I was taken to Ultrasound and then Radiology. Nothing showed up but after speaking to the doctor we both agreed that I probably strained a tendon. I was given pain meds and we got home around 2 PM - my dog was very happy to see us. Able to walk without a cane by Sunday. Getting old sucks, just so you know. 07-30-2023 Back in May - after Sport was put to sleep - we finally decided to go to the local shelter to see if we could find a new love. We noticed this guy that was just lying in his cage, so we decided to take a...

Beautiful work, Barbara. My daughter had a Hairless (dad), a Powderpuff (mom) and she kept one puppy from their litter, a Hairy Hairless. His name is Yoda and has one blue eye and is now the only one left ; he is 12 years old.
Barbara Keith replied:
Thank you and, although I've never had one of these guys, I do love their looks.

Thank you for Welcoming me to the Dog Club & for commenting on "Did You Call Me" ~ my darling baby Wally. In the past few wks I have looked often at you work admiringly. I will be purchasing a copy of this Chinese Crested art in Sept as a Birthday gift. She has show dogs ~ Chinese Crested. She unfortunately lost one of her darlings to a botched spaying just 10 days ago.
