Description
Origin: North America
Description: One of the oldest horse breeds developed in the United States, the Morgan horse was historically used for many purposes in the country including as racing, riding, and as cavalry horses. Morgans come in a variety of colors such as bay, chestnut, and pinto, and their speed and compact body makes them the ideal choice for a number of equestrian disciplines. The breed gets its name from the American composer and horse breeder Justin Morgan, who founded the breed in the late 1700s (petbreeds.com).
